Sustainability is at the heart of our business, so we source our materials very carefully and value their local distinctiveness. The greenwood for the integral carrying frame is coppiced from nearby woodland, the gorsewood fastenings are collected from the moor, and much of our wool comes from rare breeds of sheep.
Wool is a natural and renewable fibre. Each year tonnes of fleece are shorn from millions of sheep but the wool trade is in decline with the increased use of synthetics. more...
To make the leafshrouds, we use natural materials from the beautiful surroundings of Dartmoor and the Welsh borders. Our wool is chosen for both its softness and strength.
The fleeces are bought from organic farms wherever possible & selected from flocks of White-faced Widecombe, Devon Closewool, Hill Radnor, Welsh Mountain and other hill breeds of sheep.
We also use fleece that has been hand-dyed with indigo, onion skins & madder root. The wool is first needlefelted;
we then make up the leafshroud by hand in our Dartmoor workshop.

A woodland burial site offers the choice of a more individual ceremony and welcomes people irrespective of their belief. It is an ecologically sound alternative to cremation which causes atmospheric pollution and necessitates the use of fossil fuels.
A green burial ground can be a refuge for wildlife and encourages the planting of trees as memorials. It also provides a peaceful rural setting for the burial of family and friends.
