“It was a wonderful thing to have this project to focus on prior to mum's burial and I'm grateful to you for providing it.

I've never done any needle felting, but always intended to have a go, so this was quite a challenge, but felt we achieved something meaningful.

We went for a series of motifs relevant to her life, over a fancy design.”

Read about Jill’s shroud cover on the blog.

“Thank you for creating such a beautiful shroud for my late husband. The family all loved it's simplicity and beauty, none of us having encountered such an item before. Thank you for creating that attractive name label for it too. We chose the Beer Cross Woodland Burial site for Richard which felt just right for someone who had spent his life caring for the natural world. Your lovely shroud was surprisingly comfortable for us all to carry through the site and its soft and gentle texture brought comfort to us all, so much kinder than a traditional coffin, to my mind. Our children, Joe & Lucy join me in sending our thanks and appreciation for your amazing craft.” J. Watton, Devon 2025

The following are a series of images taken during the lead up to Fern’s funeral. It was a community effort; a team of friends sat with Fern during her last days of life. Yuli collected Ferns body from the hospital, and we looked after her at her home, tending her body until the funeral 10 days later. We gathered to decorate her cover for the shroud, and carried her the short way from her bungalow to the church at Throwleigh, where she was buried. The many gatherings before and after the funeral, brought many friends and neighbours together, sharing stories, strengthening bonds.
