The Leafcocoon
The Leafcocoon is the most environmentally friendly option for a burial. An alternative to a conventional coffin, the simplicity and directness of being wrapped in a soft woolly shroud or cocoon brings us gently back to our connection with Nature. We are part of Nature, not apart from her, and this is the simplest and most eloquent expression of this connection. The materials are sourced from these isles and certified either organic (the cream felt) or regenerative (the natural brown felt). The thickness and folded layers of felt give a smooth outline, unlike a conventional cloth wrap and more like a papoose. The Leafcocoon can be used in any cemetery, churchyard, natural burial ground or home burial. As with all my products, it is entirely plastic-free.
An adapted board can be provided if this is for a cremation. Please ask for details and charge for this.
If you are considering a cremation, the Oseberg Cradle is also an option.
Design details
This product has passed the FFMA Test Protocol. Approval Code: 5470 - 003336. This is certified and approved for use in any burial ground, cemetery or crematorium.
The basic Leafcocoon can be used on it’s own for use in a coffin - £340
OR: by adding handles and built-in bier (frame), it functions without the need for a coffin, thus making it two thirds lighter than a conventional coffin, economical and even more eco-friendly. £465
The Leafcocoon - A woolly papoose-like shroud of warm, comforting felt. Flaps for the head and feet are tucked in, and two ample sides wrap and cocoon the body.
Handles - There are three sets of strong handles (unless specified) sewn in and running underneath the frame, with wooden inserts covered in felt so it is soft to touch and does not crush your hands.
Integrated proofed frame - the sturdy frame is lined with waterproof paper with some natural padding for absorbency. !00% natural materials for biological breakdown, leaving no trace, and hand made with low-impact, locally sourced materials.
Leaf shaped cover - An optional leaf shaped cover can also be purchased; £75 plain, or £95 with a three-leaf decoration of naturally dyed felt. Felt decoration kits are available for you and your family/friends to decorate the leaf-shaped cover.

Delivery to mainland UK: £20 (without frame), approximately £75. Please allow 48 delivery time. This means that 3 working days are needed from time of ordering. Extra large sizes, or deliveries to Northern regions of UK may increase delivery cost. We use recycled packaging.
