The Lifetime Shroud Cover Kit

Although a felt cover for the Leafcocoon shroud is optional, its leaf shape adds an extra eloquence that many people find comforting and natural. This can be sent separately, so whether you want a long-term project or are working in preparation for a funeral, this can be a cathartic and soulful time to decorate, using a very simple needle felting technique, with instructions available on this site for free.

Other techniques that are suitable are embroidery and applique. In addition, the felt can be drawn on using charcoal, soft B pencils, chalk pastels (fixative advisable) or Sharpie pens.

Dyed wools, felting pads and needles/tools are available here.

Like my other kits, there is intention and purpose in this experience, whether you choose to work on your own for your personal legacy expression, or with family and friends for someone.

The felt is 100% organic British wool, 5mm thick.  It does not flop like woven textiles but ‘floats’, similar to leather, softening the curves.

The needle felting technique is quick and easy to learn.  The videos guide you through this simple process in a practical way, and within minutes you can be practising on small samples.  Once mastered, your ideas will flow, the colours and blends will delight.  You, and perhaps your companions, will achieve quite a lot within a couple of hours, depending on the design.

Included in the starter kit

  • Leaf Shaped cover; choose size, and colour - natural cream or dark brown (sizes: small 200 cm X 75 cm tapering to 65cm approx; medium 210cm X 80cm tapering to 70cm approx.; large 235cm X 80cm tapering to 70cm approx.)

  • Lifetime access to video tutorials

  • 160g a range of dyed wool tops enough for a cover, depending on design

  • Felting pad

  • Wooden tool with 4 needles (1 spare)
